Coffee Is A Big Part Of My Life

Coffee is one of my favorite things in my day. I have a nice strong cup of coffee every single morning. On the odd day, I have another in the afternoon. I have always enjoyed the taste and the sensation of drinking it.

I generally use Lavazza Rosa for my coffee. It's not a great deal of money and it tasted awesome. It's a good value for the price I find.

I use a Moka pot for making my coffee. You put water in the bottom of it, place the basket in it, and fill it with coffee and lightly tamp it down. Always leave a bit of room at the top of the basket, as it will expand when the water runs through it. Then screw on the top nice and tight, then put it on the burner at a bit more than medium heat and wait. It does take a while, but it's worth it.

I remember years ago having Turkish coffee in Calgary. It was so think, rich, and very strong tasting. It was amazing. I've looked into getting that kind of maker, but it seems to be a bit much for me from the videos I watched. So I'm sticking to my Moka pot.

They bill these things as "stovetop espresso makers". Well, kind of, but technically you need 9 bars of pressure to be called an espresso maker, and these things don't produce that kind of pressure. You will pay a great deal of money for an actual espresso maker that is worth getting. If I hit the lotto I'm all in with that idea. I'd get one that grinds the coffee and all the extras needed for a perfect cup. I'd also get the best coffee I could find to be delivered to me.

I have many friends that are in love with coffee as well. It's a great joy for some of us, it's not just a morning wake up, it's an essential part of our day that we deeply enjoy.

I first got into coffee in my teens, when we went out on the highway to a place called Rodoes. It's not there anymore, it's been gone for many years. But we would spend hours out there talking, trading software, and drinking coffee. We often got a crazy bread to split as well. It was some of the best times of my life.

My Mother was very into coffee as well, but only make it in a drip maker. She drank coffee all day, and it never kept her up at night for some reason. After Dad passed on, I would take her out for coffee and we would talk about our days, and just spend some quality time with each other. I deeply miss those days.

Then there was camp coffee. A percolator on the fire. It made very strong coffee, and the longer it was on the fire the stronger it got. It was not the best coffee ever but it was a part of the experience of being in nature and away from the city. The camp coffee jump started us many times before we piled into the canoe and went for a bit of a tour of the  river. Those where the days, and I'll never be able to do that again, my body is just too broken.

I remember as a child, when we went to see Moms relatives, there would always be a big selection of food, and an endless supply of coffee for the adults. It was what you did back then, coffee was expected. It's been part of our social culture for a very long time. Rich and poor alike have known the joy of coffee for generations.

I hope you enjoy your coffee and I hope you have a great day. Peace and Love.
