Remembering the Voyageur Restaurant in Moose Jaw

Image
This is the actual Voyageur restaurant I went to as a kid with my family. It was just outside of the city at the time and is now R&S Family Restaurant . We tended to only go there for breakfast when on our way to Regina, Yourkton or some other place out of town. I remember fondly the creamers that looked like a cow (below) and that there was puzzles with pegs you had to jump the pegs and clear all but the odd colored peg to win. I may be romanticizing it as we often do with memories of our youth in our old age, but I recall a great feeling of belonging and just plane joy at being there. The place has actually changed a lot over the years in how it looks but the unique ceiling they had in it is still the same. It has changed hands many times over the years, but the new owners seem to be making a go of it to say the least, and there is talk of a second location opening. It was such a simpler time, and I did not have a worry in the world. I know I took photos of R&S but I can'...

Update on Life and More

Image
Here I am smiling because I have one of my subscriptions being covered by a friend from now on. It's only $8.88 but it helps a little - every little bit of saving helps me, and I no longer have to worry about it. As well, other than yesterday being a series of strong panic attacks, this week has been mostly very good to me. I am loved, I am safe, I am warm and dry, I have food to eat, I have streaming to watch, I have music to listen too - Life if good and I am grateful. I've only been eating once a day for more than a week now. This was the result last week on Tuesday. This is Sunday, in 2 more days I'll see if I am down even more or not. I was not trying to do this, it's just that my tummy has been upset for a long time and I am generally not feeling hungry at all. Normally because of a medication I feel hungry all the time, even when I am very full of food - but right now, I don't feel like eating, and I have no idea why. Loss of apatite can be a sign of several ...

DEPRESSION TIPS

Image
Shower.  Not a bath, a shower.  Use water as hot or cold as you like.  You don’t even need to wash.  Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while.  Sit on the floor if you got to. Put on clean, comfortable clothes.  Put on your favorite underwear.  Those ridiculous boxers you bought last Christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt?  Put them on. Drink cold water.  Use ice.  If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.  Clean something.  Doesn’t have to be anything big.  Organize one drawer of a desk.  Wash five dirty dishes.  Do a load of laundry.  Scrub the bathroom sink.  Blast music.  Listen to something upbeat and loud, something that’s got lots of energy.  Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both. Make food.  Don’t just grab a granola bar to munch.  Take the time and make food.  Even if it’s ramen.  Add something special to it, l...

I Don't Filter Myself, I Just Say It

Image
Well, if you are going to ask, I'll give you stuff you probably don't want to know LOL. But then again, the people that post this nonsense to be popular, never reply to anyone anyway. I've also been to a "motel party" or three - it's when a group books an entire motel on the outskirts of a city, and has a bunch of sex activities in the rooms, and you can just got from room to room to have different kinds of fun. But these days are LONG behind me. Now I'm just your average average guy who likes to watch Netflix and sit in a chair drinking coffee, and be left the hell alone. Don't get ne wrong, I like a good orgasm, I just don't ever want to be bothered with doing anything sexual with other people now. I like living alone, even know it is more dangerous, and just can't imagine having a "lover" anymore - or random partner. I think I lost interest in actual sex about 20 years ago, since then I've just not bothered. I am however glad I...

Playing Castle of the Winds 1 and 2 on a 64 bit Windows Machine (And Cheats)

Image
Below is information on how to run COTW 1 and 2 on a 64 bit windows machine. As well there is saved game hack info you can use or not. At the bottom is some helpful hints on starting the game. The above image is a screen cap of the COTW 2 village where you start. The games are simple, but actually challenging if you do not cheat. You can play Castle of the Winds 1 and 2 on a 64 bit windows box with the emulator OTVDM . It's rather easy to find the games on abandonware sites. If you want to cheat on the game, you will need a hex editor, I recommend Hexinator . Download and unzip OTVDM then copy the COTW folders into it. Then do the following: Copy folder where you want it to be. Make a shortcut to "otvdmw.exe" Put shortcut where you want it (desktop for example) Click shortcut Click on "MICROSTR" for COTW 1 - click "CASTLE1.exe" - it should then run Click on "CASTLE2" for COTW 2 - click "CASTLE2.exe" - it should then run To cheat, st...

Tetley Chai Tea Review

Image
A friend got this for me off of my Amazon Wish List. I'm glad she did, I was deeply desiring Chai Tea and had no money for it at the time. I have been drinking Stash Double Spice Chai for years, but the 100 pack I used to get went up in price by a factor of 5, and I'm just not paying that much for it. This was half the price per unit as I originally paid for the Stash Tea. The flavor is light and does not have a very tannic taste to it like a lot of inexpensive tea has. The round bags are nice as well, as they fit nicely in the cup. You do need a spoon to fish them out, but for the price I am not worried about the lack of a string. The lighter taste does not diminish my enjoyment of it at all. I rather enjoy it, and in the afternoon, it makes a good hot treat. There is not nearly as much of a caffeine hit to them as well, so it is good for an evening of watching movies. You can get two cups out of it, but the second cup is lest tasty, unless you leave it in for some time and it...

Galca Coffee Review (Ukraine Import)

Image
This is an import from the Ukraine. The only English on it at all is on this side of the can. I've got no idea what any of it says, but I think there is sugar in it - refined white sugar to be exact. It was given to me as a gift by a friend. The taste is slightly woody, and slightly sweet. There is no bitter edge to it because of the sweetening. The woody taste is interesting and not all that common. There is a hint of walnut to it as well, but it's in the aftertaste. It always has this almost white foam on it as well when you pour in the boiling water. Interestingly enough, my attempt at Turkish coffee came out with a slightly darker foam. The can is rather small and it takes 2 heaping spoons of it to make a mug of coffee that is strong enough to be worth it. It would be great for camping over the weekend, as it would be enough for 2 people to have morning coffee 2 or 3 days in a row and does not take up much room. As instant coffee goes, this is far better than most I have ha...

Angels, Coffee, and a Hat

Image
I don't know if the universe is trying to tell me I'm not alone or what, but I very often look at my phone when it is 11:11 or 12:34. There is the possibility that I'm just ignoring the times when it's not, but it seems to happen rather often to me. There is the idea that an Angel is watching over you when you see these, or that you will be lucky that day. Luck is not something I would say ends up as part of most of my days, in fact I'd say the opposite is true. 11:11 has historical significance as well, being the date, and time of the end of World War I. It is also the time we honor those who served in wars to this day. There are very few traditions I still honor, but Remembrance day is one of them. I do the minute of silent reflection every year and have since I was about 13. As for Angels, I believe there are spirits out there that influence our lives. I don't know if this is always a good thing, but I think it happens now and then . I don't own a Briki, ...
