Love in the Mail and a Lunch Beer

Image
Lunch beer on Christmas Eve. Part of a box of goodies sent from Australia. They where quite good. These tasted great as well. Love these things. Saving these for Christmas day. Last of the goodies in the box was this. It's interesting tasting and gives a slight bit more zing to morning coffee. Free sample of vodka. It's literally one drink worth. It's about 1.76oz if you are wondering.

Oops, My Bad, AKA Check Was in the Mail

Image
This is an update to a previous blog post . Well I was not getting a $500 rental supplement from the Federal Government, and was expecting it to be direct deposit. Turns out the feds had sent a check instead. Here is the issue, I went over the online form 3 times to make sure it was all correct. The default is to get direct deposit, and I DID NOT check the box that said pay by check. I had even phoned them and spent a good deal of time to get hold of them, and was told "it has been deposited in your account". Well, obviously not, as I ended up getting a check in the mail last night. So my bad on saying the bank was holding it up - but to be honest, I have had transfers take 3 or 4 days to clear in the past, and was expecting direct deposit, so it is obvious why I thought that. But on the bright side I got the money and am super grateful that I did receive it. It's too late to order a friend something I wanted to give them for Christmas, but it can be given after just as w

After Hitting My Head, I Get Tired Often

Image
This is me out for coffee with my friends on Thursday (Dec 15, 2022). It was exactly 2 weeks after a trip and fall that left me rather banged up and with very painful ribs. The pain level was manageable, but I got very tired for some reason. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but that was not the issue, I was just plain tired. In my fall I hit my head, and for some reason, I've been getting tired fast ever since, but at random - some days I do not have it happen at all. It's going to be a while until I see my doctor for a physical exam, but I'll talk to him about it then, if I remember. Also I missed blood work today and need to call them tomorrow for a new appointment. I thought there was a bigger rush, but the doctor appointment is a ways off, so no rush. It is snowy out and my friend who drives me would be a long time picking my back up, and I don't want to wait in the snow and bitter cold for 30 minutes, and waiting inside, I'd be in the way.

This Windows 10 Update Was a Bother

Image
Still running Windows 10, as Windows 11 does not think my old PC is good enough for it. Anyway, this is the first time I've had this happen. It updated and literally took 2 hours. The entire time it sucked so much processor time I could not do anything at all other than let it update. The file manager also did not work properly when it was updating. The screen shown (photo) sat at 12% for 20 minutes. It was strange. Every other update let me do stuff and the file manager always worked. What a bother this one was. I really just fired up the PC that day to get a couple things done "quickly", but ended up playing with my phone for 2 hours waiting to be able to do stuff. When you can't even use Word, you know it's sucking too much resources.

A Look Out My Window at 3:45am

Two Weeks After My Trip and Fall (Photos)

Image
My leg a few days after I tripped and fell in my apartment. The entire leg was bruised and there was 2 rug burns. This is the downfall of being a nudist, but at least I did not get rug burn on my unit. Two weeks in, this is my tummy. I'm amazed that my ribs have no marks on them as I injured them badly and am sill in a lot of pain from the fall. Two weeks in, this is my leg. Most of the bruises are faded and the scabs are all but gone. Probably going to leave a mark where the rug burn is, but that's life - I'm covered in scars anyway, not to mention the hernia sticking out of my belly.

Bank is Holding up My Money Transfer

Image
In my lost post I told that I had been granted the one time top-up for Canada Housing Benefit. Well that was issued (direct deposit) to my bank account on the 15th very early in the morning hours. Here it is the 19th and I still don't have it showing in my account. The bank tells me they have no way to see pending transfers and can't make it clear faster. They also tell me it can take up to 8 banking days to clear. Well this is 3 banking days and nothing yet. So why is it not instant like most of the world? They use your money the entire time and make interest lending it out. It seems an extremely common practice in Canada and the USA. This is not at all a necessity, it is a choice by the bank. As I said, most of the world, transfers are almost instant - they take seconds not a week. The technology is definitely in place here to do this, as preferred customers already do get instant transfers. The bitch of it is, I wanted to use some of it to order a gift for a friend, but now

Got the One Time Housing Benefit

Image
Well I qualified for the $500 and it will be here tomorrow (this is the 14th). It will allow me to get my new TV I am in need of and with luck some sweat pants on the cheep. I'm rather annoyed that it is only online that you can get in on this with. The majority of older people I know have no access to the internet and they need the money just as much as I do. This is a heck of a fail on the part of the Liberal Party of Canada. Next month is the usual credits that I get every 4 months and they also very much help to offset the taxes I pay on items and the increased prices because of the carbon tax on shipping. Unfortunately, it does not totally cancel out the extra I pay out and trust me I'm low income. It seems in all the so called civilized countries, it is on the backs of the poor to pay out the biggest amount in tax when you scale it to their income. For some reason a great number of people thing somehow the rich getting tax breaks is good for the poor. The logic is total

Facebook is Messed Up

Image
Everything I click on Facebook right now looks like this screen shot. My profile, new posts, click a notification - all comes up blank like this. Sigh I have several things I want to post and it's messing with me. It's going to be a pain in the butt to do it with the app instead. I'll have to save a link for the posts then get them in Chrome on my phone then post the link. Total pain that. For such a large company with so many people working for them, they sure can't keep things going well. Not to mention the ads are 90% scams and dangerous links. I just saw one yesterday that claimed if you invest $500 with them, in 90 days you will get $5.5 million back LOL - as if. Not to mention ads for pot and shrooms. If I posted that they were on sale at my local store, I'd be tossed in Facebook Jail for 30 days FFS, yet if you pay them for an ad, anything goes. Hell, even saw a sex bot once. BTW I'm on a P.C. with Windows 10 and using Edge browser - it may well be workin

I Just Applied for the One-Time Top-Up to the Canada Housing Benefit

Image
Just applied for a $500 one-time payment from the Canadian Government. I qualify and have an online account with Revenue Canada, so I was able to do it. You will literally need an online account for this. It does not require direct deposit, you can get a check sent, but an account is needed, as it uses the info from your account to apply. There is no long form to do it all by hand. For the " one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit ". You must have an adjusted family net income of $35,000 or less, or $20,000 or less for an individual. You must have spent 30% or more of your net income on rent in 2022. If the link does not work, it has expired. It's a limited time offer it seems and can only be done once per Houshold. It tells me I will get the money deposited within 5 days or if you get a check, 5 to 10 days. Note, they may end up wanting proof of rent and may contact your landlord or even you.

Amazon Orders and a Return

Image
Very satisfied with these purchases. They charge my phone very quickly. Much quicker than my old "fast charge" Samsung charger. The price of a Samsung 25.5W charger is more than I paid for the 2 pack, so I'm going with them instead. Well, this was a total of $277.43 and it was dead on arrival. I sent it back. I'm going to wait until January to replace it, as I was NOT offered the option of having a replacement sent to me by Amazon, so I got a refund. The money went to other things I needed, and a bit of things I wanted. I'll be getting the same brand as this, but a 32-inch 1080P TV. This is the size I originally wanted as 40 is a bit too big for the stand. I hope this one will work when I finally get it.

Fell and Hurt Myself Badly

Image
On Nov 30, 2022, I tripped on a towel that was on the floor of my living room. Well, I fell. This was about 11pm the previous night and when I came around it was almost 5am the next morning. You can see I hit my head and messed up my leg. There is no bruise on my head fortunately, but the leg is one big bruise. What is not shows as there is strangely no bruising there either, is my left side (ribs). I hurt my ribs badly enough that it was the worst pain in my life. I forgot to tell the doctor I was knocked out, as I was still kind of out of it at the time. I am wondering how he did not notice I was rather not with it. But oh well. I'm left feeling extremely tired at random now after the fall. My ribs are mostly in severe pain when I move. Getting up from a chair is bad, and out of bed extremely painful. I have to sit on the edge of the bed for a time or I'll be going to the floor again. The pain meds the doctor gave me worked for maybe 2 days then just stopped working. I don
